The Skidompha Secondhand Book Shop in downtown Damariscotta finds itself overstocked with paperbacks priced at 50 cents. This is good news for book lovers. From now until Christmas, these books will be on special sale at 10 books for $1. The books are primarily fiction, and include classics, bestsellers, and works by some of today’s most popular authors.
According to Rosie Bensen, co-manager of the shop, “This is a perfect time to stock up on good reading for those snowbound winter days, or maybe try the works of an unfamiliar author. And our extended holiday hours make it easier than ever for shoppers to visit the shop, take a few minutes to relax by the fire, or sit at one of the windows overlooking the river.”
Until Christmas, the store will be open Monday through Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., including Sunday, Dec. 24.
The book shop, located on Backstreet Landing, is a major source of funding for Skidompha Library. All items – including CDs, DVDs, and puzzles, as well as books – are donated. The shop is managed and staffed entirely by volunteers.
