“I want to experience Thanksgiving with a family here because I like to make a lot of friends and practice my English and enjoy Thanksgiving,” said Shuyu Pang, a junior at Lincoln Academy from Tianjin, China. “In China we don’t have Thanksgiving and we don’t know what people do to celebrate it.”
Lincoln Academy’s Resident Life Program is currently seeking families that would like to invite one or more international students to join them for Thanksgiving dinner. Since the LA dorm will remain open during Thanksgiving vacation, the school is seeking host families for the Thanksgiving meal itself; no overnight accommodation is necessary.
“This is a great opportunity to connect with teens from around the globe,” said Lincoln Academy Director of Resident Life Ken Stevenson. “The Resident Life Program includes more than 80 students from 20 countries, and they are excited to learn more about our traditions (and) community, and practice their language skills.”
Families interested in hosting students for Thanksgiving should contact Sarah Kennedy at kennedy@lincolnacademy.org or 563-3596 ext. 223.
Lincoln Academy is also looking for host families for the following school vacations: Christmas break, Dec. 21 to Jan. 2, 2018; winter break, Feb. 17-25; and spring break, April 14-22.
