Starting Monday, Nov. 28, the Central Lincoln County YMCA will begin a new membership campaign titled “Try the Y for Free while Supporting the Giving Tree Community Event.” The campaign will run through Friday, Dec. 9.
All nonmembers are welcome to use the facilities free of charge, including weight and cardio machines, open basketball, pickleball, racquetball, and tennis (one must reserve court space in advance). In addition, the YMCA offers more than 40 group exercise classes for all fitness levels, including cycling; kettlebells; cardio tennis; power yoga; high-intensity cardio; Pilates; senior strength training; Total Body Challenge; and TRX – one of the Y’s newest offerings.
The Y’s community room is a great place for active older adults to gather, chat, and catch up with friends. One can have a cup of coffee and enjoy TV, cards, or a board game before or after taking the Fit for Life low-impact, high-intensity workout class or the senior strength class using low-impact cardio to increase balance, coordination, and cardiovascular endurance.
As an added bonus, if one tries the Y for free and decides to take out an annual membership between Nov. 28 and Dec. 9, the $40 activation fee will be waived when one takes an ornament off the community Giving Tree with a promise to purchase the requested gift.
