A new comprehensive information website is being created for the Twin Villages of Newcastle and Damariscotta.
According to Google search words, “Damariscotta” is searched an average of 10,000 times a month. The word “Newcastle” is searched an average of 10,000 to 100,000 times a month (there are Newcastles all over the world, but there is only one Damariscotta).
The project coordinator is Jack Hanson, with the assistance of The Lincoln County News and the Damariscotta Region Chamber of Commerce. The name of the website is faq-newcastle-damariscotta.com; “faq” stands for “frequently asked questions.”
There is currently no single source for complete information about the Twin Villages. The website includes general information, a questions list, information about the seasons, activities, organizations, history, culture, and commerce. The commerce section will display the business cards of all the businesses in the Twin Villages. To have a business card in the commerce section, please email a jpg or png image measuring 2 inches by 3 1/2 inches at 72 dpi to hanson.maine@gmail.com. There is no cost to show a business card. Whoever designed or printed the card will have the image needed.
The website is currently under construction and the majority of the information needed for the site is expected to be had by mid-April. People are encouraged to take a look at the website, and if they would like to assist as a volunteer to help collect information for the different sections, they should contact Hanson at hanson.maine@gmail.com or call him at 563-6036.
