While most businesses will be celebrating Veterans Day on Friday, Nov. 10, the U.S. Postal Service will be open for business as usual. Our carriers will be out delivering mail and post office clerks will be available for postage, shipping, and passport needs.
There will be no mail delivery on Saturday, Nov. 11, however, in honor of Veterans Day. Post offices across Maine will be closed. Normal post office operations and delivery will resume on Monday, Nov. 13.
As a reminder, those shipping packages oversees to a loved one in the military for the holidays, First Class and Priority Mail for most APO/FPO addresses should be sent no later than Monday, Dec. 11 to insure timely delivery. Priority Mail Express should be postmarked no later than Saturday, Dec. 16.
The U.S. Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to fund its operations.
