The Villages of Light celebration will return to Damariscotta and Newcastle on Saturday, Nov. 26.
After a successful first outing, the committee behind the Villages of Light celebration has scheduled the 2018 event for Saturday, Nov. 24.
This year’s event, held Nov. 25, combined elements of previous Christmas-themed events in Damariscotta and Newcastle, including the Damariscotta Region Chamber of Commerce hosting Santa Claus at the Lincoln Theater and the Twin Villages Alliance’s Wrap It Up street festival.
The inaugural event included a parade and the lining of the streets of Damariscotta and Newcastle with decorated Christmas trees sponsored by local businesses and community members.
“The committee has received such positive feedback about this year’s event, and we look forward to next year’s festivities,” said Villages of Light Committee member Mary Kate Reny.
Community members will be able to participate and keep up to date with Villages of Light on a new website, which will be up in the new year.
