The fourth Damariscotta Rotary-Lions nonperishable food pack will take place on Saturday, April 14 from noon-4 p.m. at the Central Lincoln County YMCA in Damariscotta. One hundred volunteers from the community will be needed in order to successfully pack and box 20,000 meals of macaroni and cheese, and tomato and rice. Boxes will be distributed to area food pantries.
Money was raised by the clubs, helpful townspeople, and students from Lincoln Academy by soliciting at the Yellowfront Grocery and in front of the Damariscotta Post Office between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Outreach International, a nonprofit specializing in feeding the hungry, will supply ingredients, bags, sealing machines, and boxes, allowing the clubs and volunteers to keep the cost down to 25 cents a meal.
Please call Rotarian Winslow Myers at 350-6502 to sign up for the April 14 event. Volunteers are needed!
