On Aug. 15, the Waldoboro Food Pantry served 57 households with food assistance consisting of food items purchased from Hannaford Supermarket in Waldoboro and the Common Market in Union, as well as from Good Shepherd Food Bank in Auburn. Many bakery items were furnished to the households from Borealis Breads in Waldoboro and from the Cupboard Collective in Auburn.
Hannaford Supermarket in Waldoboro provided a number of frozen meats to the 57 households. Good Shepherd Food Pantry in Auburn and Spear’s Farm in Nobleboro and Waldoboro supplied produce such as lettuce, summer squash, peppers, corn, cucumbers, zucchini, and other items to the households.
Three new faces have been added to the pantry’s volunteer staff, and they are appreciated by the staff’s directors and fellow volunteers.
On Monday, Aug. 21, the food pantry received 116 cases of food from the federal government. The staff picked up the food in Wiscasset and delivered it to the food pantry’s location on Jefferson Street in Waldoboro. The Waldoboro Fire Department graciously volunteered to help unload the food items for the pantry’s staff. That help was greatly appreciated by the food pantry.
The next food pantry will be open Tuesday, Sept. 5 from 1-6 p.m.
