Midcoast Lyme Disease Support & Education is pleased to have Dr. Carrie Werner as the guest speaker at its upcoming Lyme support meeting from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, July 26 at the Wiscasset Community Center, 242 Gardiner Road, Wiscasset.
Werner is a licensed naturopathic doctor, midwife, and educator who practices at Northern Sun Family Healthcare in Topsham. She grew up in Connecticut and completed a bachelor’s degree in psychology in Washington, D.C. After 2 1/2 years in Honduras as a public-health volunteer in the Peace Corps, and having always felt a call to medicine and to helping people, she went on to attend the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, Ore., where she earned a naturopathic medical degree and completed an apprenticeship in naturopathic midwifery.
After completing her medical studies, Werner moved to Melbourne, Australia and opened a practice while teaching at a natural therapies college.
Werner is excited about her growing practice at Northern Sun Family Healthcare and, along with her associate, Dr. Sarah Ackerly, takes a well-educated and integrative natural approach to treating Lyme and other tickborne diseases in a manner that fully supports the patient back into wellness.
This meeting is free and open to the public. Child care is not provided, so attendees should plan accordingly.
