Through the efforts of community businesses, organizations and individuals, the town of Wiscasset announces its annual Spirit of Giving holiday program, which is designed to help parents fulfill the holiday needs and wishes for their children. The program is for Wiscasset families and students attending Wiscasset schools.
Families seeking assistance are asked to complete an application, which is available starting on Wednesday, Oct. 17 at the Wiscasset town office at the clerk’s window, or at the Wiscasset Community Center. Parents are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. All applicants must be Wiscasset residents. Parents may request up to two needs and two wishes for each of their preschool- or school-age children. In an effort to assist more families, wish requests should be in a reasonable price range. No electronic items will be considered. All completed applications are due back to the town office or to the Wiscasset Community Center on Thursday, Nov. 15.
Once the applications are received, tree tags will be made for each child’s request and placed on wishing trees at the Wiscasset town office, Ames Supply, and the Wiscasset Community Center. Any business, organization, or individual wanting to fulfill a child’s wish should take a tag from any of wishing trees at any of these locations. All purchased, unwrapped gifts must be placed in any one of the boxes at any of these same locations by Monday, Dec. 3.
Parents can pick up the gifts on Thursday, Dec. 13 from 3-5 p.m. at the Wiscasset town office.
