The Wiscasset Public Library held its annual meeting Sunday, Jan. 27 at the library and elected its board of trustees for 2019.
Elected as president was Richard Vitz to replace Sally Gemmill, who is remaining on the board. Re-elected to continue as officers of the board of trustees were Linda Bleile as vice president, Tom Boudin as treasurer, and Sandra Crehore as secretary. Also continuing on the board are Cindy Fischer, Kris Niederlitz, Cheryl Rust, and Greg Uthoff.
Year-end reports by Wiscasset Public Library Director Pam Dunning and children’s librarian Laurie Ridgway indicate that the library was a busy place during the year, holding many events, including a variety of author talks and a very successful summer reading program for children.
Linda Winterberg reported that the group Friends of the Library had a successful year with events such as the annual Bands for Books fundraising event in the fall and the Christmas holiday shop for children.
On Wednesday, Feb. 20, the library will open a retrospective exhibit in its upstairs art room of the work of photographer and filmmaker Ray Witlin, who died in 2002. At 5 p.m. that evening, Witlin’s widow, Phyllis Chinlund, will give a PowerPoint presentation of his work and discuss his long career taking photographs all over the world.
