The Kefauver Studio & Gallery in Damariscotta announces a busy 2018 season. Gallery owner Will Kefauver will produce seven art shows featuring his latest work and the work of his guest artists. As a member of the Bristol Road Galleries group of artists, Kefauver will present a “Garden Day” event on Saturday, Aug. 4, with guest artists painting en plein air in the gardens behind the gallery. In addition, Kefauver will teach painting in oil or acrylics to adults and teens.
“I’m looking forward to hosting several juried shows this season. Many of the themes will be familiar, and some will be new this year. I’m also going to try something a little different this year. I am also adding one show that is by invitation only,” said Kefauver.
The first art show is “Icons/Maine,” running from June 1 to July 1. The theme is all of the things that make Maine so special and a wonderful place to be in the summertime. Kefauver said, “I’m looking forward to seeing lupines, lighthouses, and lobster boats, as interpreted by a range of artistic styles and mediums.”
“The Boat Show” is the second art show, July 6 to Aug. 5. The show will depict powerboats, ferries, sailboats, and bells, buoys, and lines — all of the things that are evocative of Maine’s life on the water.
The third show is “Rock ‘n’ Wave,” Aug. 10 to Sept. 9, and will highlight Maine’s rugged coastline.
The “Monhegan Days” art show is the fourth show, Sept. 14 to Oct. 7. The theme is the architecture — natural and manmade — of the beautiful island.
The fifth show is the “6 x 6” show, Oct. 12 to Nov. 4. This show features work that is six inches by six inches — small in size but big in impact.
The sixth show is “The Little Holiday Show,” Nov. 9 to Jan. 2, 2019. This show will include artwork from large to small, fitting every budget, and timed for holiday gift-giving.
In addition to the juried shows above, Kefauver is adding an invitation-only show featuring his work and the work of other artists in the field of children’s illustration. This show will run from July 21 through Aug. 12, concurrently with “The Boat Show” and “Rock ‘n’ Wave” shows.
Dates and details for submitting work for consideration will be provided in calls-for-entries press releases in advance of each show. Artwork will be accepted for consideration approximately two weeks before each show’s opening day.
