Local author William Anthony will sign copies of his novel, “Farnsy,” at Sherman’s Maine Coast Book Shop in Damariscotta on Saturday afternoon, July 30, from 1-3 p.m.
Set in Damariscotta, “Farnsy” is a lighthearted novel about a young policeman who’s trying to figure out the mysteries of love — and find out what’s behind the mysterious rolls of Necco wafers popping up in seasonal cottages. Local readers will recognize many of the settings (like Waltz’s Soda Fountain) while summer folks will get a taste of life on the Midcoast in the off-season.
Anthony is a retired university professor and administrator. He spends almost half a year in Edgecomb on the Damariscotta River and the other in a Chicago suburb (Evanston, on Lake Michigan). He met his wife in college in Maine, married in Maine, and has vacationed in Maine for over 50 years, so Anthony estimates he’s about 11.6% Mainer.
His column, “The Midcoast Boater’s Journal” appears monthly in The Lincoln County News.
