DanceMaineia will have its annual spring performance at the Camden Opera House this year. This Midcoast dance school is run by Whitefield resident Melanie Pagurko and her passionate daughters. Dancers range from the 2- and 3-year-olds in Creative Movement up through many different levels of ballet, jazz, and hip hop for kids of all ages and abilities, and even all the way up to an exciting adult group of dancers.
These performances will be held at the Camden Opera House on Friday and Saturday, May 11 and 12. The first show on Friday, May 11 starts at 6 p.m., with doors open to the public at 5:30 p.m. The second performance will be on Saturday, May 12 at 2 p.m., with doors open to the public at 1:30 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door or can be had by calling Pagurko at 380-1726.
Many of these dancers have been dancing with Pagurko for at least seven years, and have progressed to choreographing their own dances. From the energetic practices, through the dress rehearsals and onto the stage, every piece embodies the school motto of “Dance with your heart, and your feet will follow.” There will be small beginners, exciting light-up jazz dances, and graceful and lyrical ballet performances.
