Members of the public are invited to join the community at Pumpkin Vine Family Farm in Somerville for the second annual Fiddlin’ in the Field concert and contradance. Held under a tent overlooking the back fields, the concert provides a unique opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the land while celebrating community. Sassafras Stomp will perform its sweet, high-energy folk music on Saturday, July 28 from 6-9 p.m., and John McIntire will be calling the dance. No experience is needed to enjoy the fun – all dances will be taught, and all ages are welcome.
One can start the evening with a wagon ride to the farm, then add some homemade ice cream, and let the fiddles do the rest while the sky gently fades and the lanterns light. Don’t miss this chance to celebrate friends, farms, and folk music at the farm, at 217 Hewett Road in Somerville.
Pumpkin Vine Family Farm became incorporated as a farm education center in 2017, with a mission of connecting the community to small family farms. In that spirit, the farm is hosting this concert and dance as a nonprofit event; all proceeds go to the musicians and equipment rental companies. Tickets are $10 per person or $25 per family (two adults and any number of children). Reservations are recommended as tickets are limited to ensure space under the tent in case of rain. Call Kelly at 549-3096 or email info@pumpkinvinefamilyfarm.com to save a space. To learn more about the farm, go to pumpkinvinefamilyfarm.com.
