Belva Ann Prycel has an exhibit of evocative landscape paintings at the Pemaquid Watershed Association office-gallery through Friday, Aug. 11. The theme of her exhibit is “Images and Visions.” The exhibit consists of nearly 40 oil paintings, both large and small in scale, depicting the changing light and atmospheres of Maine. New track lighting was recently installed in both rooms to allow the show to be fully appreciated no matter the weather or time of day.
Prycel has written and illustrated three books, “Times and Tides, “Water Tales,” and “Passage,” all memoirs of the coast and of her family. All books are available at the exhibit as well. The gallery is open from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., weekdays.
The purpose of art exhibits at Pemaquid Watershed Association’s office gallery is to mutually benefit the artist and PWA. The shows provide an opportunity for artists to gain local exposure for their works that depict the beauty of the natural environment while being an attraction to bring people into the office to learn about PWA’s mission. Prycel is donating a generous portion of the proceeds from exhibit sales at the office gallery to PWA.
Since 1966, Pemaquid Watershed Association has been a member-supported, volunteer-driven nonprofit organization. PWA’s mission is to conserve the natural resources of the Pemaquid Peninsula region through land and water stewardship and education.
