The Jan Kilburn Gallery in Damariscotta will host a large group of artists painting en plein air on Saturday, Aug. 26 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The public is invited to the gallery’s “Guests on the Lawn” event to see many of the area’s noted artists, working in watercolor, pastel, and oil. It is a chance to peek over the shoulder of an artist, watch a painting come to life, and perhaps go home with a piece of original art that was created before one’s eyes.
Kilburn will host watercolorists Carol Blanton, Kathleen Horst, and Bob Vaughn; oil painters Steve Busch, Will Kefauver, Sally Loughridge, and Marnie Sinclair; and oil and pastel painters Marsha Brandwein and Carol Wiley.
The painters will be working in the lovely gardens around the Jan Kilburn Gallery and adjacent Sinclair Gallery. The rain date is Sunday, Aug. 27, also from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Light refreshments will be offered, and all artwork created that day will be for sale.
The Jan Kilburn Gallery is at 168 Bristol Road in Damariscotta, less than a mile from downtown Damariscotta. Free parking is available at both the Jan Kilburn Gallery and the Sinclair Gallery. For more information, call Jan Kilburn at 563-8363 or email her at jankilburn@msn.com.
