First National Bank, at 223 Main St. in Damariscotta, is pleased to showcase paintings by Kay Sawyer Hannah during the month of October. The pastel and watercolor paintings represent the color and splendor of the seasons that inspire the artist year-round. Her depictions of nature and local scenes include about 20 of her original works of art.
Hannah was born in Damariscotta and spent her preschool years in Round Pond before she moved to New Harbor and ultimately graduated from Bristol High School and the University of Maine. She lived with her family in Vermont for 30 years, working mainly in public schools as a speech-language therapist.
Hannah was delighted to have time to paint upon retirement and moved in 1999 with her husband, Peter, back to Bristol. She has exhibited in many shows in the area for nearly two decades and enjoys being a juried artist at Pemaquid Art Gallery. Hannah’s works have found homes in Europe and throughout the United States.
