The Kefauver Studio & Gallery in Damariscotta presents “Rock ‘n’ Wave,” the fourth art show of the 2017 season at the gallery. The show will run from Aug. 18 through Sept. 10.
The show features new work by oil painter Will Kefauver and the work of his 31 guest artists. All of the art in the show will celebrate the rugged coastlines and crashing surf of Midcoast Maine. Kefauver enjoys bringing guest artists to his gallery. “There’s a magic to our coastline here, which draws artists to both contemplate and interpret their experiences with it. Through their talent with brush and lens, they share unique visions of what draws us all to the water’s edge,” he said.
Kefauver’s guest artists represent an intriguing range of mediums and styles. Three artists are new to the gallery for this show: acrylic painter Winslow Myers and pastel artists Becky Shorb and Barbara Vanderbilt.
In addition to the newcomers, Kefauver is delighted to welcome back painter and fiber artist Judith Fischer, who is exhibiting a tapestry; reduction linocut artist Deborah Kozak; photographers Steve Dunn, Michael Fillyaw, Claudia Noyes Griffiths, and Jim Nyce; oil painters Marcia Brandwein, Albert Bross, Midge Coleman, Sandra Dunn, Kathy James, Sally Loughridge, Liliana Thelander, and Helen Warner; pastel artists Patti Leavitt and Nancy Lovley; graphite artist Bill Child; acrylic artists Gill Barclay, Dale Dapkins, Hannah Ineson, DiTa Ondek, and Marnie Sinclair; and watercolorists Deena Ball, Jane Bowman, Lydia Kaeyer, Jan Kilburn, Cindy Spencer, and Judy Nixon.
Kefauver is an award-winning oil painter, specializing in landscapes. He has both studied and been an instructor at the School of Visual Arts and the Katonah Arts Center in New York. He is president of the Pemaquid Group of Artists, and is a signature member of the National Society of Artists and the Bristol Road Galleries in Damariscotta. Kefauver also teaches beginning and intermediate painting classes in oils and acrylics for teens and adults in his studio.
An opening reception will be held on Sunday, Aug. 20 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served, and there is free parking. People are encouraged to come and meet the guest artists presenting “Rock ‘n’ Wave.”
