The Lincoln Academy visual arts faculty announces the reception for the eighth annual Lincoln Academy student art exhibition on Thursday, April 13 from 5-7 p.m. at River Arts, 241 U.S. Route 1, Damariscotta. The exhibit will showcase ceramics, sculpture, and two-dimensional pieces from more than 60 Lincoln Academy art students. The public is invited to view the works on the night of the reception or anytime during business hours from April 13-27.
This show reflects an ongoing partnership between River Arts and Lincoln Academy in Newcastle, for which instructors Nina Sylvia, Jonathan Mess, and Kirsten Campbell all are very grateful. Sylvia said that “it is an uncommon event for students of this age to be able to show their work in a professional gallery. We are extremely fortunate to have this opportunity another year.”
The artwork encompasses ceramics, sculpture, drawing, painting, photography, collage, and mixed media work. Students do all of their own matting and framing and provide artist statements to explain their process.
“Come meet the artists, enjoy refreshments, and help celebrate the students’ hard work and dedication,” said ceramic teacher Mess. “You will not be disappointed in what these young artists produce.”
The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday–Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sunday. For more information, go to riverartsme.org or call 563-1507.
