On Saturday, Sept. 23 at 7 p.m., the Maine Marimba Ensemble will perform a concert titled “Magic of Marimba,” featuring traditional and contemporary Zimbabwean music on an assortment of handmade marimbas at Darrows Barn, DRA Round Top Farm, 3 Round Top Lane, Damariscotta.
Marimba music, composed on the m’bira, hosho, and ngoma, is a traditional form of African expression with deep roots traced back nearly a thousand years. Participation is highly welcomed, encouraged, and embraced. As they say in Zimbabwe, “If you can walk, you can dance. If you can talk, you can sing!” The show is sure to be captivating and is not to be missed!
