As part of the Damariscotta-Newcastle ArtWalk, which runs from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, June 15, Joe Lane Lobsterman restaurant, on Elm Street in Damariscotta, will host a reading featuring Maine authors Darcy Casey, Celeste Loring Gleason, Andrea Lani, and Kate Kastelein. The event is part of an initiative by WAVE, Writers and Authors for Visceral Entertainment, which was founded by Casey. WAVE was founded as a means to integrate writing, art, and the community, with the belief that good writing should be shared, not hidden.
The restaurant will remain open during the event so that the audience members can enjoy food and drinks while they enjoy the readings. Each writer will share about 10 minutes of their work. A variety of genres will be represented, and selections will be from both published and unpublished works. Kastelein, organizer of the reading, says she hopes to turn it into a monthly event.
