Local band Misery Gulch — “The Gulch” — will perform at the Damariscotta Pumpkinfest & Regatta on Monday, Oct. 9 from 10-11:30 a.m. in the back parking lot behind the Colby & Gale service station on Main Street in Damariscotta, near the Damariscotta River.
The Gulch is pleased to announce that very special guest, South African bassist Bakithi Kumalo of singer-songwriter Paul Simon’s band, will join the group for the concert. Kumalo achieved notoriety with his performance and memorable bass lines on Paul Simon’s 1986 Grammy Award-winning album “Graceland” and subsequent releases throughout his career. Kumalo will perform several Paul Simon favorites from his esteemed career.
Kumalo is also a proud endorser of world-renowned Nobleboro musical instrument company NS Design, makers of fine electric bowed instruments and bass guitars by instrument designer Ned Steinberger.
The Gulch and Kumalo are looking forward to a fun-filled day of music, pumpkins, and fall festivities during this wonderful festival.
