Midcoast residents and fellow travelers are invited to celebrate the summer solstice 2019 with artist Ammi Bai Chung at Gallery 87, 87 Federal St., Wiscasset.
Inspired by Midcoast Maine’s wild and beautiful landscape, Chung’s palette offers contemporary, bold, expressionist paintings of Monhegan, Pemaquid, and East Boothbay. But among the coastal scenes, Chung also included for her first show a stunning bonus landscape of Mount Katahdin, “The Greatest Mountain,” named so by the Penobscot Native Americans for being the highest mountain in Maine.
Chung is proprietor of The Sea Salt, a boutique Airbnb property in Wiscasset’s historic district, and is a graduate of Maine College of Art. During the extended winter of 2019, Chung decided to add the new gallery space to showcase her work, joining the ranks of talented local artists for which Wiscasset has gained notice.
The show opens Friday, June 21 at 6 p.m., with a summer solstice garden social and refreshments at 87 Federal St. For more information, find a preview of Chung’s work on Facebook at “Gallery 87 Ammi Bai Chung.”
