The Medomak Arts Project, a local arts nonprofit organization located at 9 Friendship St. in Waldoboro, has several interesting events planned for the month of December. On the community calendar is a watercolor paint night, a jazz concert brunch, a potluck dinner, and a community caroling gathering.
The popular paint night, with Libbie Winslow instructing, will take place on Thursday, Dec. 8 at 6:30 p.m. The evening’s theme will be winter birch trees using watercolors. All necessary tools, paints, and paper will be supplied and the fee for attending is a $15 donation toward the Medomak Arts Project. Preregistration is encouraged to ensure that adequate supplies will be available for all that attend.
On Sunday, Dec. 11, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., the third edition of the Medomak Arts Project’s monthly jazz brunch featuring Jazz do Mondo will take place. A hearty selection of brunch items, beverages, and jazz music awaits one for a suggested $5 donation toward the Medomak Arts Project.
The venue’s regular third-Thursday community potluck dinner will take place on Thursday, Dec. 15 at 5:30 p.m. There is no cost for this family-friendly event. During the potluck, people are going to decorate the community Christmas tree; attendees are encouraged to donate a tree ornament along with a nonperishable food item to add to the gift box for the Waldoboro Food Pantry.
This year’s annual community caroling group will walk the village streets of Waldoboro on Sunday, Dec. 18. The doors at 9 Friendship St. will open at 4:30 p.m. to offer warming beverages and snacks before the caroling tour around the village begins at 5 p.m. The Medomak Arts Project space will also remain open after caroling as a gathering place for all community members wishing to warm up after the caroling and catch up with their neighbors. Everyone is welcome to join in the caroling and participants are encouraged to bring along their instruments and music-makers.
Medomak Arts encourages community gatherings through art, education, and giving. It is a registered 501(c)(3) that operates solely by volunteers and donations, allowing it to participate in local art walks, music concerts, and host workshops. Members of the public are asked to please consider a donation to Medomak Arts this holiday giving season; tax deductible donations will ensure that programming continues for the upcoming year.
