Thanks to sponsor Sea Smoke Shop, this month the free movies at Skidompha Library will keep the fun alive with classic summertime flicks for the whole family. “I have such fond memories of going to summer movies as a young boy and a teenager,” said Penn Way, proprietor at Sea Smoke. “I wanted to help recreate that experience for folks in some small way.”
Starting off the Thursday 7 p.m. movie lineup, Owl Cinema will show “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” on Aug. 9, followed by “Jaws” on Aug. 16, the beloved film “The Princess Bride” on Aug. 23, and cult classic “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” on Aug. 30.
Family films are shown every other Saturday at 11 a.m. “Shrek” will screen on Saturday, Aug. 11 and “Finding Nemo” on Aug. 25.
All films are free and open to the public thanks to the support of sponsors.
When asked what prompted this fun selection of movies, Penn said, “I chose some old-school, family-friendly options that would appeal to several age groups. ‘Jaws’ is a New England summer classic, ‘Finding Nemo’ is great for the little ones who love the beach, and ‘Indiana Jones’ will entertain both teenagers and adults.”
