River Arts in Damariscotta invites the public for a special evening of art, refreshment, and a silent art auction on Friday, March 8 from 5-7 p.m. Over 50 works by member artists will be available in the River Arts West Gallery silent auction.
The bidding will begin at 5 p.m. on March 8 for this month-long fundraising auction.
River Arts is building a fund for improvements to its building and signage with the proceeds of the art auction. Among the contributing artists are Jean Kigel, Geoff Bladon, Gerd Koehler, Helen Warner, Jannetta Jennings, Catherine Gibson, Sarah Harvey, Frieda Hanlon, and Hannah Nelsbach. There are many other participating members as well.
This event coincides with a reception of the juried exhibition “Figures, Photos, Forms” in River Arts’ main gallery. “Figures, Photos, Forms” features artwork selected by Charlotte Davenhill, of Tidemark Gallery in Waldoboro. Full of personalities and powerful forms, this show has an emphasis on the figure in a wide range of interpretation. With the galleries full of art and artists, the evening should be full of interesting and enlightening conversation.
Davenhill also selected three artists to be featured in the exhibition called “Juror’s Invitational Show.” The winners will be revealed at the opening reception on Friday, March 8.
River Arts is located at 241 Route 1 in Damariscotta. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visit River Arts on Facebook or Instagram: RiverArtsME, or go to riverartsme.org. For more information, call 563-1507.
