The Waldo Theatre in Waldoboro will be the beneficiary of two summer events hosted off-site through the generosity of the local community. Events are scheduled for Sunday, July 9 and Wednesday, Aug. 9. All proceeds will go towards the Waldo Theatre’s capital campaign drive.
Natalie Masse of Pinky LaRue Fashionably Vintage Housewares and Home Decor is hosting a movie night on the lawn of 995 Main St. in Waldoboro on Sunday, July 9. Admission is by donation with a suggestion of $5 for the viewing of Charlie Chaplin’s “The Gold Rush.” There will also be concessions available, including popcorn, beverages, and baked goods made by local volunteers for cash purchase. Moviegoers are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets to this event that starts at 7:30 p.m.
On Aug. 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the Little Brown Church in Round Pond, Greg Broadman and friends will hold a concert in support of the Waldo Theatre. Broadman will perform songs from his recent recording “La Frontiere est Morte,” with Julia Plumb on viola and hurdy-gurdy, and Daniel Hawkins on cello. Tickets are $12 at the door, and additional contributions will be welcome. Make plans to come early, as Harvest Moon will be serving up farm-sourced, wood-fired pizza from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in front of the Round Pond Schoolhouse before the concert. All proceeds will go to benefit the theater.
Waldoboro Farmers Market will host Waldo Theatre board members during the Aug. 2 market, starting at 3 p.m. An informational booth with theater board members will be on-site to answer questions regarding the strategic plan, the prospectus, and details pertaining to the upcoming capital campaign.
