No injuries were reported when a Nobleboro woman drove her vehicle into the Coveside Condominiums building on Elm Street in Damariscotta Sunday afternoon, June 5.
Billie Flanagan, 92, was practicing parking in downtown Damariscotta when she drove into the building located at 62 Elm St., according to Damariscotta Police Officer Erick Halpin. Flanagan was driving a Subaru Forester and had a temporary license.
Flanagan’s daughter, Anne Flanagan, of Damariscotta, was a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the accident. Both Billie Flanagan and Anne Flanagan were wearing their seat belts, Halpin said. The airbags did not deploy.
Central Lincoln County Ambulance Service responded to the scene and evaluated both of the vehicle’s occupants. Neither Billie Flanagan nor Anne Flanagan reported any injuries, Halpin said.
Billie Flanagan was cited for failure to maintain control of the vehicle, Halpin said. Other charges may be possible.
Halpin said neither speed nor intoxicants are believed to have been factors in the crash.
Quick Turn Auto Repair and Towing towed the vehicle away from the scene.
Both the exterior and the interior of the building sustained some structural damage, and there was some damage to landscaping as a result of the crash, Halpin said. No injuries were reported by any of the building’s occupants.
The Damariscotta Fire Department also responded to the scene.
