Residents and passersby in the immediate area of the two-story, white wooden building at 202 Main St. in Damariscotta may have noticed a subdued hustle and bustle taking place recently in the parking lot behind it as Branches Home Care Inc. moved out of the ground-floor space it had shared with Acasa Hair Salon for the past year and into a new space farther away from downtown on Main Street.
Acasa Hair Salon is now set to expand into the entire first floor of the building in early May.
“The space became available and I saw it as an opportunity,” said Leslie Benner, owner of the cozy full-service salon, which does everything from manicures and pedicures, to hair cutting and styling, to tanning and waxing. Stylists Britani Lavertu and Courtney Pitcher round out the staff at Acasa Hair Salon.
“More space means more space to be individual with clients, and more space makes it more comfortable for clients,” Benner said. “I’m going to have another chair – a booth rental will be available.” Also on tap for the upcoming expansion will be a spacious new reception area.
The timing of the salon’s expansion coincides with its new line of fair-trade, eco-friendly Oway hair-care products, which feature biodynamically grown ingredients and product labels made from tree-free paper made of sugar-cane waste.
“I am looking forward to having a higher profile in the community with the new Oway products,” said Benner, who emphasized that her salon offers nontoxic hair coloring and perms.
Acasa Hair Salon is open Monday-Saturday by appointment, and may be reached by calling 563-1813. Walk-ins are welcome upon availability.
