Built on a 42-foot Calvin-designed hull, Farrin’s Boatshop, at 19 Sproul Road in Walpole, redesigned the pilothouse of a 42 Sportfisherman boat to take the look of a sleeker Sportfisherman.
Farrin’s built the fiberglass fuel tanks, and all bulkheads. The boat is powered by a 12.9 Caterpillar 1,000-horsepower marine diesel engine, which, on the way to Freeport, N.Y., pushed her at 30 knots top speed, cruising at 23 knots. Farrin’s also installed the rudder, drive train, generator, bow thruster, and hydraulic steering.
The boat’s windows are aluminum-framed with 3/8-inch tempered glass in the windshield and quarter-inch glass in the other windows. The forward cabin has berths for four, with a separate shower/head. The pilothouse has an electric cook top, a refrigerator, a settee/berth, and a companion seat. In the cockpit, it has a below-deck tuna tank, a live bait tank, rod holders, and a tuna door. The boat left South Bristol on May 11 and is now in Freeport, N.Y., being outfitted for charters.
