On Thursday, Aug. 16, Farrin’s Boatshop in Walpole launched a 40-foot YB lobster boat built for Adam Gamage, of South Bristol. Gamage’s new boat, named “Tory Lyn,” was christened by his wife, Tory, and daughter, Sophie. Two bottles of champagne hit the stem of the boat at the same time with a great splash, bringing cheers from many friends and guests.
The boat was built from a bare hull. Farrin’s Boatshop built the deck and house, installed the drive train, the electrical, the plumbing, and a 750-horsepower John Deere marine diesel, which pushes it through the water at a top speed of 24-plus knots and a cruise of 20 knots with an SS propeller cage in place. The boat is also equipped with 14-foot SS hauler, an SS A-frame davit with a small winch, Freeman and Bomar aluminum hatches, Wynne aluminum-framed windows, a 250-gallon fuel tank, and full electronics.
On Saturday, Aug. 18, Gamage was hauling his lobster gear.
