Hancock Lumber Co. is proud to announce the election of Eric Dolloff as president of the Retail Lumber Dealers Association of Maine. A Hancock employee for 20 years, Dolloff began his career at the company’s Windham location as a shipper and moved through the business with a variety of roles in Windham, Kennebunk, and Damariscotta. Today, he serves as the general manager of Hancock’s Damariscotta location, a position he has held since October 2006.
Dolloff has served on the Retail Lumber Dealers Association of Maine Board of Directors since 2011 and has been an active advocate for the lumber and building-materials industry as a member of the association’s legislative and education committees.
In addition to serving as president, Dolloff will represent Retail Lumber Dealers Association of Maine as a director on the Northeastern Retail Lumber Association Board of Directors, a post that several Hancock leaders have held, including Kevin Hancock and his late father, David Hancock. The Northeastern Retail Lumber Association represents more than 1,100 members in the Northeast and the Mid-Atlantic states.
“It is a great honor and privilege to serve as president of the RLDAM. I look forward to promoting the interests and betterment of our industry in this capacity,” Dolloff said. “I’m also very excited for the opportunity to work side by side with both owners and managers of several great lumber dealers across the state. The RLDAM serves our industry on several fronts, including legislative affairs and educational topics. I’m very grateful that Hancock Lumber has allowed me the time to serve on the board and I look forward to the opportunities the next two years will bring.”
Established in 1933, the Northeastern Retail Lumber Association has 100 member locations and represents independent lumber and building-material dealers, manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors, and other associated businesses in Maine. Most members are family-owned and multigenerational businesses that support their communities and drive the state’s economy.
“Eric’s strong retail leadership background coupled with his composed style has made him a great asset to the RLDAM board,” said David Gluck, the Northeastern Retail Lumber Association’s regional director. “We look forward to working with him in the coming years to help strategically provide value to Maine members.”
Established in 1848, Hancock Lumber Co. is a sixth-generation, family-owned business operating a timberland company, a sawmill division, and a network of retail lumber yards, home design showrooms, and a truss manufacturing facility. Led by its 540 employees, Hancock has five times been selected as a Best Place to Work in Maine and was recognized as the 2017 national ProSales Dealer of the Year. Four of the company’s locations have received OSHA’s highest safety certification, earning SHARP certifications at the Casco, Bethel, and Pittsfield sawmills and the Bridgton lumber yard. Deeply embedded in Hancock’s culture is stewardship, and the company firmly believes in giving back and leaving things in better shape than when it assumed responsibility for them.
