On Monday, Nov. 6, The Harbor Room in New Harbor will launch its new monthly fundraising event called Making Mondays Matter. On the first Monday of each month, The Harbor Room will donate 10 percent of its lunch and dinner sales to a preselected local nonprofit organization. New Hope for Women will be the beneficiary for November, and December will benefit The Carpenter’s Boat Shop.
Taylor Corson and Cerina Leeman, owner-operators of The Harbor Room, state that they are so grateful for the support they have received from the community in their first three months, and this is just one of the many ideas they have to show their support in return. Other events they have held in the past include a fundraiser for Old Bristol Days and a teacher school-supply drive in August and on the first Monday in September, with their first unofficial Making Mondays Matter. With that event, they were able to donate more $400 to the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund to help the hurricane victims in Texas and Florida.
For any nonprofit interested in becoming a beneficiary of one of the Making Mondays Matter, the process is simple: just email info@theharborroommaine.com with a suggestion and the beneficiary will be selected randomly. All that is requested is that one help promote the event to supporters.
