A Newcastle woman has opened a business offering intuitive readings and healing.
As an empathic healer, Emily Sabino said she can sense what a person feels, both emotionally and physically. She said she was born with her intuition, but it took her many years to master it.
“I was in what I’ve come to call ‘pancake city,’” Sabino said. “I was in a deep depression, which was because I didn’t know how to handle all the things going on around me in the world that I was feeling.”
Sabino said she learned how to distinguish others’ feelings from her own and decided to use her ability to offer others a healing experience in her 13 Pleasant St. home.
“I can’t read minds or sense personal details, so there is privacy there,” Sabino said. “I can just sense how a person is feeling, and then make suggestions about how to change that energy.”
During a session, Sabino uses a number of different techniques and tools to assist with the healing process. Sabino sometimes plays a large drum in soft, low tones to soothe people and help them stay focused, she said.
Unlike Reiki and other healing practices, there is no physical contact during a session, Sabino said.
“I listen and observe a person’s energy, and then communicate any useful information that I receive,” Sabino said. “Sometimes a person is on a path and just needs direction on how to deal with a situation.”
Sabino offers sessions for both individuals and couples. Each session is uniquely tailored based on what a person is facing.
“Sometime you come in thinking there’s one thing that is affecting you, but it’s something else entirely,” Sabino said.
A session can be conducted in person at Sabino’s home or over the phone, and can range from an hour to an hour and a half. Sessions typically cost $150 each, however, Sabino is offering a $50 discount for the next month.
All sessions are confidential, Sabino said.
In addition to her work, Sabino also performs in a band, The Flying Seeds, with her husband, Lenin Sabino. Many of the songs on the band’s first album are based on musical mantras Sabino used when she was struggling.
“Music and healing go hand-in-hand, and my goal is to encourage connection to positive, healing vibrations,” Sabino said.
