Nancy Kennedy, vice president for Camp Chewonki, has been named to the Wiscasset Area Chamber of Commerce.
As a major employer and an educational partner with local public schools, Chewonki has a significant economic and cultural impact on the local community. Kennedy recognizes the implications of that responsibility and plans to use it creatively as a new member of the Wiscasset Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
“I feel that as a place-based business whose mission is, in part, defined by developing and engaging communities, Chewonki has a responsibility to continue to seek opportunities to be an active partner and participant in Wiscasset in relevant and tangible ways,” Kennedy said. “Serving Wiscasset by volunteering for the chamber, which promotes and encourages the best for this area, seemed like the right thing to do.”
Founded in 2011, the Wiscasset Area Chamber of Commerce works to promote economic activity and community vitality in Wiscasset and the neighboring towns of Alna, Dresden, Edgecomb, Westport Island, and Woolwich. “The chamber’s mission is accomplished through business advocacy, member-support services, regional image development, cultural and heritage promotion, and business education partnerships,” according to its website.
