The American Chiropractic Association Council on Diagnosis and Internal Disorders is pleased to recognize that Dr. Ronald Bouffard, of Boothbay Harbor, has successfully completed the prescribed 300-hour coursework and demonstrated excellence by passing all required examinations to achieve status as Diplomate of the American Board of Chiropractic Internists. He is the first chiropractor in Maine to become nationally certified as a chiropractic internist.
These board-certified internists are trained in and utilize the current medical diagnostic tools as well as specialized functional diagnostic tools to help diagnose and treat a broad spectrum of conditions and diseases beyond what a traditional chiropractor treats.
Diplomate of the American Board of Chiropractic Internists physicians routinely employ methods such as blood chemistry studies, urinalysis, electrocardiograms, vascular Doppler ultrasound, spirometry, DEXA bone-density testing, salivary assay hormonal and neurotransmitter testing, IgG food allergy testing, X-rays, CT and MRI imaging, stool analyses, and many other diagnostic tools. With these tools, a diplomate uses therapeutic methods such as clinical nutrition, dietetics, exercise, vitamin and mineral supplementation, homeopathic medicine, botanical medicine, natural hormone replacement, and pharmacologic counseling. Many of today’s chronic conditions and disease states can be resolved by utilizing these natural methods.
Bouffard has been practicing chiropractic exclusively in the Boothbay region for 23 years. His interest in nutrition and naturopathic treatment remedies have led him to furthering his education through the Affordable Care Act program known as the Diplomate of the American Board of Chiropractic Internists program.
Bouffard will continue to practice the physical chiropractic treatments he has always practiced but is now accepting patients as an internist on Wednesdays exclusively. For patients who are seeking alternative, natural treatment for conditions not exclusively musculoskeletal and who wish to try treatment less invasive, less symptom-oriented, and more functionally based, they are encouraged to call his office and request an appointment as a “nutritional” patient.
Bouffard’s office is located at 18 West St., Boothbay Harbor. The office phone number is 633-5500. Watch for upcoming seminars that will be advertised in this newspaper. For more information, like the Facebook page.
