A coalition of Newcastle businesses will host the first-ever Newcastle Cares Day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13. The day will celebrate the local businesses in Newcastle while also supporting the nonprofits that contribute to the community.
With the number of businesses in Newcastle on the rise, the event will be the perfect opportunity to see some of the new faces and experience the diversity of entrepreneurs while also supporting local nonprofit organizations.
In the weeks leading up to the event, participating businesses can advertise the deal they plan to offer and any local nonprofit they will support on the day for a special rate in The Lincoln County News. The business could be a collection point for an organization, donate a portion of the day’s proceeds to a nonprofit, or offer support in other ways.
During the event, visitors at participating businesses can have a passport stamped or signed. A passport that receives five stamps will receive a prize and should be submitted at the Damariscotta Region Chamber of Commerce to be entered in a raffle.
Newcastle Cares Day will also coincide with the Damariscotta Region Chamber of Commerce’s Fall Shred Event at Lincoln County Publishing Co. Visitors will have the choice to pay $10 per box or bag to shred, or to donate a new and unopened school supply item per box or bag shredded. A portion of the funds raised from the event will be used to purchase supplies for local elementary and middle schools.
