Red’s Eats, the iconic seafood shack in Wiscasset, has been owned and operated by the Gagnon family for 40 years. Wikipedia describes Red’s Eats as “one of the most well-known and most written about restaurants in the state” of Maine. Travel + Leisure Magazine listed Red’s Eats as one of the Top 10 Seafood Shacks in Maine. There is no doubt that Red’s Eats has become one of the most recognizable places in New England and has helped to keep tourist visits high each summer. The Wiscasset Chamber of Commerce would like to recognize the Gagnon family by proclaiming Saturday, Sept. 30 as “Red’s Day.”
People are encouraged to wear their brightest red clothing and go to Red’s Eats for a town proclamation ceremony at 11 a.m. on Sept. 30, recognizing Red’s Eats for its 40 years of service to and support for the Wiscasset community.
The Wiscasset Chamber of Commerce wants to celebrate all of its members on their significant anniversaries. For more information, email info@wiscassetchamber.com or call 882-9600.
