From Wednesday, May 23 to Saturday, June 2, Smitten Collectibles & Nerdy Treasures in Damariscotta will accept donations of old towels and other needed items for the Lincoln County Animal Shelter in Edgecomb in celebration of Towel Day, Thursday, May 25. In appreciation of donations, the store is happy to give customers a 20 percent discount on their entire purchase. This discount is stackable with Smitten’s Level Up Titan discount as well.
Towel Day is celebrated on May 25 worldwide in honor of Douglas Adams, author of “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.” It was in this radio series and its follow-up book that Adams said, “A towel is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have.” Towels come in pretty handy at the shelter, too. In addition to towels, the following items are also acceptable donations: old bedding, Frontline Plus flea and tick treatment for dogs or cats, dry dog food (any brand with no red dyes added), laundry detergent (any brand), and paper towels.
Donations can be dropped off at Smitten Collectibles & Nerdy Treasures at 2 Hodgdon St., Damariscotta. The response last year was amazing, and Smitten is hopeful it will be even larger this year. Store hours are Wednesday and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Please note that the store will be closed this year on Friday, May 25 and Saturday, May 26.
Only one discounted shopping trip per customer/Level Up card, please.
