‘Try the Y For Free’ Membership Campaign
Starting Monday, Nov. 28, the Central Lincoln County YMCA will begin a new membership campaign titled “Try the Y for Free while Supporting the Giving Tree Community Event.” The campaign will run through Friday, Dec. 9.
Wiscasset Tree-Lighting Ceremony
The annual tree-lighting ceremony in Wiscasset will take place at 4:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 3 on the town common. There will be a sing-along of familiar holiday songs, led by chorus members from grades five through 12.
Damariscotta Police Department Winter Parking Ban
This notice is for all motorists that park on any street or road or in the municipal parking lot after hours in Damariscotta. The winter season is upon us. In accordance with the town of Damariscotta’s Traffic and Parking Ordinance, Article 1.17 Winter Parking, parking is prohibited on any street, road, or municipal parking lot from Nov. 15 to April 15 between the hours of 9 p.m. and 7 a.m.

The Lincoln County News will publish a day early the week of Thanksgiving. The deadline for letters to the editor and press releases – normally 5 p.m. Monday – is 5 p.m., Friday, Nov. 18, for the Thanksgiving edition. The deadline for advertisements is noon Friday.

Sixty-eight people will die today because of drugs. Drug and alcohol addiction is like flypaper that destroys lives and families. Illicit-drug and alcohol addiction, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, totals $700 billion each year in costs related to health care, lost work productivity, and crime.

Free Help Enrolling in Health-Insurance Marketplace
Help with enrolling in the health-insurance marketplace will be available for free at two Lincoln County locations in November. Certified application counselors will be in the computer lab at the locations, where they can assist one and answer questions while one completes the enrollment application.
