One of the things LincolnHealth registered nurse Mona Buffum likes best about her job is being able to spend a lot of time with patients. “We get to know them pretty well,” said Buffum. “The more time you spend with them, the more you are going to pick up on.”
Community Tree of Giving Now Accepting Applications

Sixty-eight people will die today because of drugs. Drug and alcohol addiction is like flypaper that destroys lives and families. Illicit-drug and alcohol addiction, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, totals $700 billion each year in costs related to health care, lost work productivity, and crime.

Free Help Enrolling in Health-Insurance Marketplace
Help with enrolling in the health-insurance marketplace will be available for free at two Lincoln County locations in November. Certified application counselors will be in the computer lab at the locations, where they can assist one and answer questions while one completes the enrollment application.

Fall for a Feline Program Prepares for Hurricane-Displaced Cats
Coastal Humane Society in Brunswick and the Lincoln County Animal Shelter announced on Friday, Oct. 14 that the shelters are waiving adult-cat adoption fees for the remainder of October in an effort to make room for additional cats rescued from southern states recently affected by Hurricane Matthew. The adoption-promotion program is called Fall for a Feline. Adult cats age one year and older are free to adopt; they have been spayed/neutered, and are up to date on vaccinations.
