After more than five years, Whitefield Elementary School has completed its new playground. Through the hard work of dedicated staff, the final phase of the playground, which was installed incrementally, was completed over the summer, Principal Josh McNaughton said.

A Boothbay woman was charged with a felony for allegedly operating under the influence of drugs, causing a collision with injury that closed Route 1 in Wiscasset for approximately one hour the afternoon of Oct. 8.

A months-long MDEA investigation into heroin trafficking in Lincoln County has resulted in the arrest of a Westport Island couple. An electrical malfunction was the cause the structure fire that broke out in Alna Wednesday, Oct. 21, the State Fire Marshal’s Office determined. The fire originated in an exterior wall of the living room of the West Alna Road home and progressed up the wall and into the roof, State Fire Marshal Office Sgt. Ken Grimes said.
