A months-long MDEA investigation into heroin trafficking in Lincoln County has resulted in the arrest of a Westport Island couple. Roger Gingrass, 37, and Alicia Hallstrom, 36, both of Westport Island, were arrested Wednesday, Oct. 21, according to a press release from Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland.

An anonymous report of a vehicle operating erratically resulted in the arrest of a Portland woman for operating under the influence of drugs in Wiscasset Oct. 7. Alison Spikell, 63, of Portland, was charged with operating under the influence of drugs with one prior, a class D misdemeanor, according to a press release from the Wiscasset Police Department.

An electrical malfunction was the cause the structure fire that broke out in Alna Wednesday, Oct. 21, the State Fire Marshal’s Office determined. The fire originated in an exterior wall of the living room of the West Alna Road home and progressed up the wall and into the roof, State Fire Marshal Office Sgt. Ken Grimes said.

Obstructions to Wiscasset Municipal Airport’s flight path from trees growing in the Chewonki Campground was an issue that could have easily been resolved decades ago, former airport manager Ervin Deck previously said.
