Towns Would Bear the Brunt of Proposed RSU 40 Budget Increase
The board-approved budget for RSU 40 includes a 4.97 percent overall increase for 2015-2016, and a drop in anticipated state subsidy means towns would shoulder 80 percent of the $1.1 million budget increase.

A Waldoboro man was indicted March 11 on charges of aggravated assault and domestic violence assault for allegedly choking and striking a woman in Damariscotta in January.
Jefferson Man Indicted on 20 New Sex Charges Against a Minor
Adding to two similar charges pending against him in Knox County, a Jefferson man was indicted March 10 on 18 charges of unlawful sexual contact with a girl under 12 years old and two charges of attempting the same.
Family Wellness Center Opens in Edgecomb
Jefferson resident Dr. Pia Maranzik, a licensed clinical psychologist with a doctorate in counseling, has opened a family wellness center on Route 1 in Edgecomb.
New Flood Maps Require New Ordinances in Lincoln County
Nearly every municipality in Lincoln County will consider adopting a new floodplain management ordinance to stay in compliance with the National Flood Insurance Program.
Those ordinances must be adopted by July 16 or municipalities will be suspended from the program.

NWS: Weekend Storm Arriving Later Than Forecast
The timing on a storm forecast to affect Lincoln County through the weekend has been moved back, according to the latest National Weather Service bulletin. Precipitation will begin later, and will initially be a bit lighter than originally forecast, according to the NWS. The latest forecast calls for precipitation to begin in the late afternoon hours of Saturday as light rain or sleet and then develop through the overnight hours into steady snowfall continuing through Sunday, according to the NWS.

Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:
On March 8, Reserve Deputy Mark Walsh was dispatched to a report of a vehicle fire at a business in the Nobleboro area. The complainant stated that when he arrived at his business, one of the trucks, which was parked in the parking lot, appeared to have been fully involved by fire at one point and apparently ran out of fuel and self-extinguished. The burned-out vehicle was a 2010 Ford F-550 dump-body truck valued at approximately $23,000. This case is under review by the Criminal Investigative Division and the Office of the Maine State Fire Marshal.
Southport Rejects Hard Liquor Proposal
Convening their annual town meeting at the town hall March 2, Southport voters needed just under two hours to dispatch a 66-article warrant, including a 10-minute recess for refreshments and a secret ballot vote.
