Despite the economic downturn in recent years, Vern Brewer and Jack Harworth, co-owners of NAPA Auto Parts in Wiscasset, are expanding their operations. The partners will be moving from their current location in Wiscasset at 179 Bath Rd. to a larger retail space right down the street in mid November.

Central Maine Power has announced that all Lincoln County households still without power should have their service restored by Saturday night, according to a bulletin issued by the company at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

Lincoln County kicked off its fifth annual Spirit of America awards ceremony with the largest crowd in its history Tuesday, Nov. 18 at the communications center in Wiscasset.

Whitefield Tax Collector Robin White has admitted to stealing $17,000 from the town and has resigned, according to a statement by the Whitefield Board of Selectmen.

Five felonies out of 11 total charges, including burglary and various drug charges, against a Damariscotta woman were dismissed in a plea deal in October, and though the woman will serve no additional jail time, a substantial suspended sentence hangs over her head.

Westport Island residents voted to repeal the town’s budget committee ordinance with 195-175 vote during Nov. 4 polling.

On Tuesday, Nov. 4, voters overwhelming approved Question 3, which asked for permission to issue bonds for small-business loans in an effort to revitalize main streets, strengthen rural economies, and create job growth in Maine.

Christopher Hutchinson said he and his two crew members were on their way back to the mainland Saturday afternoon after a day of hauling traps when the seas and winds quickly intensified, causing his 45-foot lobster boat to flip.

It remains to be seen how many Lincoln County families will be without electrical power on Thanksgiving Day. In the early morning hours of Thanksgiving, a total of 9505 Lincoln County outages were reported by Central Maine Power. At the time of this posting, CMP had no estimate on how many of those customers will have power restored for Thanksgiving Day.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch well in advance of a weather system forecast to chug through Lincoln County on the heaviest travel day of the year – Wednesday, Nov. 26 – the day before Thanksgiving.
