The Gardiner man who struck a deer while riding a motorycle in Whitefield Sunday, Sept. 28, died as a result his injuries, Monday, Sept. 29, at the Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

Still No Snowplowing Contract in Alna
Seth Hagar, vice president of Hagar Enterprises Inc., told the Alna Board of Selectman Sept. 10, his company is still interested in entering into a snowplowing contract, but some proposed changes in the contract has delayed the signing of the contract.

Updated – State Police Find Remains of Homicide Victim in Jefferson
The Maine State Police criminal investigation unit excavated human remains believed to be long-missing Charles E. “Chuck” Woodburn at 219 Neck Road in Jefferson Wednesday, Aug. 27. Maine State Police spokesman Stephen McCausland said the State Medical Examiner’s Office has reported that the individual was a victim of a homicide.
Damariscotta-area Chamber to Move Office to Newcastle
The Damariscotta Region Chamber of Commerce is moving into a new office in downtown Newcastle, in the building formerly home to The Bank of Maine.

Tax Hike Coming for Wiscasset Property Owners
Coming as no surprise, Wiscasset property owners will see an increase in their tax bills, as the Wiscasset Board of Selectmen set the town’s mil rate at $17.00, a 4.6 percent hike over last year’s $16.20 mil rate.
