Since December, a Lincoln County woman became pregnant with twins, endured a severe form of morning sickness, and was diagnosed with breast cancer and a rare genetic mutation.
NWS Issues Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Weds. Afternoon/Evening
At 2:20 p.m. Wednesday the National Weather Service issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for a large portion of Maine, including Lincoln County. There are no specific areas or storms included in the watch at this time. Unstable atmospheric conditions combined with a storm line advancing from the west are factors contributing to the possibility of thunderstorms today. The highest risk for these storms in Lincoln County will be between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Wednesday, according to forecasters.
Edgecomb Tax Rate Up 12 Percent

Bunker Hill Road Closed Aug. 4-6
The portion of Route 213, or Bunker Hill Road between Route 215 in Newcastle and Route 126 in Jefferson will be closed to through traffic from Monday, Aug 4, to Wednesday, Aug. 6, according to Maine Department of Transportation spokesperson Ted Talbot.
Wiscasset Selectmen Appoint Town Manager
The Wiscasset Board of Selectmen appointed a new town manager July 16. Marian Anderson, of Boothbay, has accepted at three-year contract with the town. Anderson will replace interim Town Manager Don Gerrish, who has served in that position since the resignation of Laurie Smith this past February.
South Bristol Swing Bridge Open to Car Traffic
The swing bridge on Route 129 in South Bristol that connects the mainland to Rutherford Island is again open to vehicle traffic after becoming stuck open at approximately 2:45 p.m., Monday, July 14, according to bridge operator Mark Page.

Whitefield Couple Recognized for Woodland Work
Bambi Jones and David Moskovitz, of Whitefield, have been managing nearly 2,000 acres of woodland area since 1978. For this work, the American Tree Farm System has named them Outstanding Tree Farmers of the Year for the Northeast Region.
