For the second year in a row, The Lincoln Home was chosen as the winner of the Best Bedazzled Contest for local businesses in Damariscotta and Newcastle. Part of the seventh annual Wrap It Up event, sponsored by the Twin Villages Association, this is the second year for the Best Bedazzled Contest in categories for homes and businesses.

The Damariscotta Board of Selectmen unanimously supports the idea of public transportation from the Newcastle train station to downtown Damariscotta and elsewhere around the region.

The selectmen cast a unanimous vote Jan. 15 to support a shuttle or trolley service in concept, but stopped short of a financial commitment.

This winter season has gotten off to a strong start with three weeks of snow and ice, and the repeated storms have taken a big, early bite out of public works budgets for Lincoln County towns.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning in regard to yet another snow storm due to slam the area with 8 to 10 inches of snow on Thursday into Friday. Forecasters are calling for varying intensities of snowfall during the daytime hours, with the heaviest snowfall after dark.

Hodgdon Yachts and Boothbay Region Boatyard announce they have signed a letter of intent to merge Boothbay Region Boatyard in Southport and Wotton’s Wharf in Boothbay Harbor with Hodgdon Yachts. The combination is expected to become final this spring.

The East Boothbay company Hodgdon Shipbuilding LLC is going to build custom yacht tenders at a long-vacant facility in Damariscotta.
