Wiscasset Police arrested 20-year-old Steven Peaslee on charges related to an alleged domestic violence assault Dec. 15.

A Damariscotta man credits the swift response of a Central Lincoln County Ambulance crew with saving his life Nov. 6.

Joining two other officers who resigned earlier this year over job uncertainty, Waldoboro Police Officer Tom Hoepner submitted his letter of resignation on Nov. 22.

AccidentsOn Nov. 19 an accident occurred on Bradford Road involving Donald James, 50, of Wiscasset. A deer ran out in front of his 2006 Chevrolet truck causing damage to the front fenders and driver’s door.

The owner of a garage and three antique automobiles that burned in Bremen Dec. 30 said the fire was accidentally started as he worked on one of the cars.

NWS forecast calls for heavy, wet snow falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour during overnight hours with more rainfall along coast.

Lincoln County residents will see precipitation during an overnight storm beginning late Sunday afternoon, but forecasters are having a hard time agreeing on what form that precipitation might take.

The Medomak Valley Holiday Classic, scheduled for Mon., Dec. 23 has been cancelled due to weather conditions. It will not be made up.

Wiscasset has a new employee at the town office. Ellin Jasmin, of Bowdoin, was hired last month to replace the retiring Becky Applin. A native Mainer, Jasmin is a former teacher, missionary, and bank employee who now works in accounts payable for the town.

The first major storm of the season arrived in Lincoln County Saturday night bringing plenty of snow and blustery winds, but fortunately very little in the way of damage. There were no power outages reported in Lincoln County as of 10 a.m. on Sunday, according to Central Maine Power. Motorists seemed to be staying off the road, with only several slide offs reported and no major accidents or incidents, according to the Lincoln County Communications Center.

The Bath Road Master Plan Steering Committee voted to recommend to the Wiscasset Board of Selectmen, a plan aimed at encouraging development and mobility along Wiscasset’s business corridor which extends from the Woolwich town line to the north end of Flood Avenue.

School officials say Jefferson Village School needs to replace three buses due to mounting repair costs, but the Jefferson Board of Selectmen is waiting for more information before deciding what action they may take.

The number of power outages in Lincoln County is on the rise again as yet another winter storm is due to arrive on Sunday night, bringing an additional 6 to 10 inches of snowfall to the area. In an ominous note, some forecasters are calling for more freezing rain than snowfall, especially in Lincoln County coastal areas.
