Higher Snowfall Totals Now Forecast for Thurs. Storm, Evening Commute May Still See Mix
The latest National Weather Service (NWS) advisory (11:32 a.m.) has upgraded the snowfall totals for Lincoln County regarding a weather front that has been dumping heavy, wet snowflakes on the area since early Thursday morning. Snowfall accumulation is now forecast at 8 to 12 inches for the entire area with possible exceptions for extreme coastal areas and the tips of south facing peninsulas where the snow may mix with rain, according to the NWS.
Bristol Fire Victim’s Cause Of Death Released
The 69-year-old Bristol woman who was the victim of a Dec. 9 fire in her garage died of “thermal burns and associated severe coronary atherosclerosis.”

NWS Upgrades to ‘Warning’ on Thursday Storm
The National Weather Service (NWS) has upgraded the advisory status for Lincoln County from a Winter Storm Watch to a Winter Storm Warning regarding a weather front that is forecast to bring snowfall to the area beginning Thursday morning and then continue into the evening hours as either snow, sleet or rainfall depending on what part of the county you’re in and what direction the weather tracks.

High Winds, Heavy Rain Bring Power Outages
A blustery mix of high winds and heavy rainfall buffeted Lincoln County beginning Friday afternoon, but it wasn’t until the evening commute at about 5 p.m. that wind velocities increased and damage reports started coming in to the Lincoln County Communications Center. First responders were summoned to trees and wires down throughout the county. By 8:35 p.m. there were 3,727 households with power outages, with every town in Lincoln County affected, according to Central Maine Power (CMP). Almost a third of the outages were in South Bristol where southeasterly winds with sustained velocities of 30-40 mph and gusts up to 60 mph wreaked havoc on the coastal peninsula.
Jefferson Teens Train To Assist Firefighters
On a snowy December evening, while some of their friends might have been complaining about a lack of things to do in Jefferson, a group of teenagers were gathered at the Jefferson Fire Station conducting an inventory of gloves, helmets and other protective gear that they will wear while helping firefighters.
